Jeffrey D. “Woody” Woodruff, 62 years young, passed peacefully from this life with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, Indiana. Jeff was one of three children born to the late Newman Edward and Lillian Patricia (Wilson) Woodruff. He was born in Franklin, Indiana, on Sunday, November 30, 1958. Jeff graduated with the class of 1977 from Indian Creek High School. He lived several years in Morgantown, Indiana, before moving to Martinsville approximately forty years ago. Upon graduation from high school, Jeff began his lifelong career in professional construction lumber sales at Black Lumber in Martinsville. He later gained employment at Bender Lumber in Martinsville and Bloomington, Pettit Hardwoods in Martinsville and eventually gaining employment at Home Depot in Greenwood, where he retired after approximately fifteen years. Jeff was a worthy and dedicated member of the Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Martinsville, serving as an elder for many years. He absolutely loved the outdoors and the splendor of nature, and he was a notable sports fanatic, especially for the Indianapolis Colts and IU Football and basketball. Prior to his failing health, Jeff and his wife enjoyed bowling together on leagues for several years. He leaves behind a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly, including his wife of forty years, Paula Elizabeth (Cook) Woodruff of Martinsville, whom he married on June 12, 1981; two daughters, Sarah (husband, James) Engelking of Indianapolis and Melissa (husband, Brock) Milligan of Avon, IN; one brother, Chuck (wife, Debbie) Woodruff of Ellettsville, IN; one sister, Patty (husband, Bert) Cook of Illinois; and four beloved grandchildren, Eli and Kelly Engelking and Lilli and Cali Milligan. Along with his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by two infant grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 19th from 4:00 -8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. Pastor Chris Costa will conduct a service celebrating the life and witness of Jeff beginning at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home and he will be laid to rest in Nebo Memorial Park following the service. The Woodruff family is requesting that facial coverings be worn while at the funeral home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
